I live in TN & work for a small business. My boss just told us that we can no longer eat in our building on our break. We have to leave when we take our lunch break

If the company does not pay you for your lunch break then you are entitled to leave your area of work, including your desk. Most employers will provide a rest area, even if it is the one table with a couple of chairs, however it depends also on the size of the company and how many people work there.
If the company pays you whilst you have a rest break then they can expect you to work through your break allowing you at least a 20min break where you can use the time for your personnal needs during that time.
If you do have a rest room for meal breaks then it must comply to Health and Safety standars, all equipment must be monitored each year and any faulty stuff must be replaced, there must be adequate ventalation and natural light.
I would speak to your colleagues that have been there longer, your manager and if you have one your local Union Rep on where you stand.
Good Luck
