My mother lives in Los Angeles and air pollution there is really bad. Currently she lives near the free way so the quality of air is bad as it could be. Is it a good suggestion to move to high elevation on the top of the hill. It feels like the air is cooler and crisper up there. My questions: Is there less smog as you move up elevation?? Is air quality better in high elevation even in the smack of LA? (ie: up in hollywood hills or diamond bar area)

Pollution can take many forms. The air we breathe, the water we drink, the ground where we grow our food, and even the increasing noise we hear every day—all contribute to health problems and a lower quality of life. Find out about the environment issues of pollution, what’s being done on a global level, and what you can do in your community.

The same problem happens to me as well. The level of air pollution is so high that it is very difficult to live in metropolitan cities these days...

These areas being in low basins between mountains, are notorious to smog. Smog is an intense deposition of heavy dust particles emitted through polluted smoke coming out of industries and vehicles. Your decision seems to be right as far as location is concerned. It is worse during warmer, sunnier weather when the upper air is so warm that it can inhibit vertical circulation.

Hello friend as i know if you're using an air purifier in a high elevation you are more likely to get nose bleeds than someone in a lower elevation. Air purifiers recycle air while running it through some sort of filter. So please take care from the polluted air because its not good for health.

Hi,
Most pollutants in smog are particles of stuff that are suspended in the air. In general, they are more dense, and therefore will sink to the bottom. So, most of the smog will be closer to the earth, but it will only be noticeable at a fairly high elevation.
