Architect versus Civil engineer

If you have an artistic talent and favor form and function, I would suggest architecture, if you enjoy mathematics and the physical sciences and applying those concepts to real life, I would suggest civil engineering. Architects are concerned with form, function, aesthetics, owner wants and needs, and space limitations. They are the ones who design how the building LOOKS. Pay for an architect is mediocre when first starting, but becomes competitive once you are promoted. Civil engineering is a broad field with subtopics such as construction, structural, highway, transportation, geotechnical, environmental and land surveying. Civil Engineers deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and natural built environment, including works such as bridges, roads, canals, dams and buildings, so basically civil engineers are not as concerned with how a structure looks as they are if it stays STANDING. Pay for a civil engineer varies depending on which subfield you decide to go into, although the pay is considered low starting out when compared to other engineering majors, once you are a licensed engineer, the pay jumps substantially. Personally, I am a construction engineer and I am involved with estimating, scheduling, quality control, desiging temporary structures, cost control, document control, and material procurement. So needless to say, I am out in the field for the majority of my job, however, most of the civil subfields may find themselves in an office enviroment researching and designing, and that is likewise for an architect as well. I thing Civil Engineer is better than Architect because architech just have to make the map of design the work on it is totally in the hands of Civil persons.
